The Coronado Cultural Arts Commission is pleased to announce the installation of the Community Center Art Gallery, a special space used exclusively to exhibit art work by local artists. The gallery will be comprised of four areas to exhibit work of various media, including paintings and photography, pottery, sculpture, and glass, etc. Overall, the gallery will be approximately 60 linear feet of display area.

The opening exhibition, one of the Celebrate 125 events, is “Visions of Coronado,” a juried show by local artists of works inspired by Coronado, which will run Nov. 19 through March 2016. The ribbon cutting and artists’ reception will be held in the Nautilus room on Nov. 19. The gallery will be used for future juried exhibitions featuring up to four artists on a rotating basis. There will be a People’s Choice Award for the Visions exhibit, which will provide the winning artists an opportunity for an exhibition in 2016.

The Coronado Community Center Art Gallery is an exhibition opportunity and a service to local artists.  Artists may offer their work for sale. Informational meetings will be held at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Sept. 30 in the gallery space (the hallway between the Nautilus room and Coronado Playhouse at the Coronado Community Center) to provide more detail on this and upcoming events, as well as to answer any questions from the artists.

Call to Artists: All local artists are encouraged to enter this show celebrating Coronado’s vibrant 125 year history. This exhibition is part of the 125 Celebration, and works should be inspired by the history, events, life, and beauty of Coronado. Artists must be residents of Coronado, or work, teach, own property in Coronado or own a gallery here. All ages are welcome to submit. Up to three works may be submitted by each applicant.  Please go to for further details and application form.

Deadline: Entries must be submitted by email by Oct. 30, 2015. For additional information please contact: Kelly Purvis, Contract Arts Administrator or 619-341-0137.
