It’s that time of year again - time to get your flu shot. While there is not much talk about the flu with COVID remaining the hot topic of conversation, but flu season begins now and the flu vaccines are available.

Walgreens is ready for Islanders and visitors to stop by the pharmacy, fill out paperwork, and take a seat while their caring staff quickly administers the annual flu vaccine.

The regular and high dosages of the vaccine are available now. All vaccines are quadrivalent which means they offer an immune response against four different virus strains. The high dosage vaccine is recommended for those 65 and older. The shots are covered by insurance and Medicare.

Flu cases were lessened last year due to the majority of people being quarantined. But now that many things have gone back to normal and people are gathering with and without masks, the expectation for the flu effecting people becomes more likely. It is acceptable to get the flu vaccine now even if you are getting the COVID vaccine. You can get them at the same time without any issues. Always check with your doctor before being vaccinated for anything.

Walgreens is located at 925 Orange Avenue in Coronado and you can reach the pharmacy at 619-435-6354 with any questions regarding the flu vaccine. Appointments are encouraged but not necessary.
