Four seats on the five-member Coronado Unified School District Board of Education will be up for election in the November 8, 2022, election. The four incumbent board members whose terms expire: Helen Anderson-Cruz, Lee Pontes, Bruce Shepherd, and Esther Valdes-Clayton, are all eligible to run for another term. Three positions will be four-year terms, expiring in November 2026, and one position will be two-year term, expiring in November 2024.

Any person is eligible to run for office if he/she is 18 years of age or older, a citizen of the state, a resident of the school district, a registered voter, and not legally disqualified from holding civil office. Employees of the District who are residents are permitted to apply but may not continue employment with the District if elected.

All candidates must file with the San Diego County Registrar of Voters. Information can be found under the Candidate Filing Guide at The candidate filing period will open on July 18, 2022, and close on August 12, 2022.
