Question:

The CUSD School Board plans to assemble a committee of school system stakeholders to put together and execute an Equity Action Plan. If you had the power to choose one member of this committee, who would it be - and why?

Answer:

I am, first and foremost, a strategic thinker. I am always about making informed decisions - not emotional ones. This is a matter of safety for our kids. When it comes to our kids’ safety and education, we have to get it right. In order to do so, we need a data-driven analysis of the issues and advice from an expert on implementing evidence-based solutions.

Therefore, I believe the committee will be most effective if it includes a trained expert on diversity, equity, and inclusivity. Someone who can gather data, understand it, and guide the district in implementing effective solutions. In the long run, this approach will save the district and its stakeholders time and money and be most assured to keep our kids safe-

because nothing is more important to me than our kids.
