Local historian Kevin Ashley will give a presentation, with historic photos, of Coronado’s little-known Black history on Saturday, February 11 at 3 p.m. in the Winn Room at Coronado Public Library. This program is projected to be full. Admission will be first-come, first-served until room capacity is reached.

This program is happening concurrently in the Library with an exhibit of books that relate to the lives of Coronado’s pioneering Black residents from 1887-1921 in the Library’s exhibits corridor near the Reference Desk. The exhibit and presentation are presented in partnership with the Coronado Historical Society.

Ashley’s presentation focuses on his Coronado Black History Project, which documents the lives and experiences of Coronado’s African American community from 1886 to the present. For more information about the Coronado Black History project, visit https://kevinashley.substack.com.

This program is projected to be full. Admission will be first-come, first-served until room capacity is reached. Thank you.
