“Destroy that which is evil so that which is good may flourish.”
SO1 (SEAL) Remington Jordan Peters was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and grew up on the Western Slopes of Colorado. From an early age, his passions were anything that involved a significant challenge or contributed to his personal growth. In high school, he was a four-year letterman excelling in football and track. His passion for life and fierce loyalty to his friends, family and country led him to enlist in the U.S. Navy and pursue his dream of becoming a Navy SEAL.
Peters joined the Navy in September 2008, and graduated from BUD/S with Class 276 in April 2010. Peters went on to the Naval Special Warfare Lead Breacher School and was recognized by his teammates as the Honor Man.
After graduation, Peters checked into SEAL Team Seven, where he completed multiple combat deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan. Peters was a Machine Gunner and Breacher within his platoon and known for his intense and keen skills in his specialty and as a teammate, brother, and operator. Peters then checked into NSW Training Detachment One where he served as an Assaults Instructor. After completing his tour there, he checked into the Navy Parachute Team in March of 2016, and was in his second season with the team. With the elite Leap Frogs, Peters jumped over 900 times. Peters was tragically killed at a Fleet Week Demo Jump over Memorial Weekend, on May 28, 2017 from a parachute gear failure.
Peters’ personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (two), Combat Action Ribbons, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (two), NATO Medal, Rifle Expert, Pistol Expert, Static Line Jumpmaster, Military Free-Fall Jump Master Parachutist, and Honor Man.
Peters was a fierce warrior and guardian here on this Earth. For all that knew him, knew of his larger-than-life personality, authenticity, his loyalty to family and friends, his guardianship, his faith, his passion for all things fast and his intense pride for America. But what Peters portrayed most of all was truth, honesty, humility, his regard towards living a full and adventurous life, and his ferocity when it came to protecting those around him. Peters truly did use every ounce of what God gave him. He is a protector. He is the perfect example of an American man an American warrior and an American hero. Peters will not be forgotten and forever will be one of the most steadfast and fearless warriors. Peters was and always will be a true Frogman.
