On Friday, Sept. 24, Cdr Dustin Lonero and crew of USS Coronado (LCS 4) treated the Coronado Navy League to a tour onboard the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) that bears our beloved city’s name. The 21 guests, including Navy League, Sea Cadet, and Military Officer Association of America (MOAA) members and USS MIDWAY docents, marveled at the ship’s unique propulsion and navigation systems, manning, mission sets - and the crew’s professionalism!

The LCS is a fast, agile, mission-focused platform designed to operate in near-shore environments, winning against 21st century coastal threats. USS Coronado (LCS 4) is capable of supporting forward presence, maritime security, sea control, and deterrence.

To participate in future Navy League events, including a barbecue with the USS Coronado crew on Oct. 7 and joint dinner meeting at the Coronado Yacht Club on Oct. 19, please contact acewelch65@gmail.com.

Special thanks to CDR Lonero, CMDCM Alan Benavidez, LTJG Christian Munzner, and FCC Alma Barajas for coordinating this exciting event for the Coronado Navy League!
