The City picked up three awards this recently at ceremonies for climate, energy and sustainability actions, citizen satisfaction, and information technology.

At an awards ceremony in Long Beach, the city accepted a silver level Beacon Award for sustainability best practices from the Institute for Local Government. The Institute is the research arm of the league of California cities and the California Supervisors Association. Coronado’s sustainability efforts include the elimination of gas-powered hand tools, its approach to pedestrian facilities and the development of a recycled water facility.

The City picked up its “Voice of the People Award for Excellence in Foundations,” an honor given to cities that best listen and act for the benefit of their communities. The award was given by the International City/County Management Association and National Research Center to the communities with the highest or most improved ratings as voiced by their own residents in a survey from 2018. The city received the award at the Association’s 105th annual conference in Nashville.

The city was also selected to receive the excellence in Information Technology Practices from the Municipal Information Systems Association of California. The award was received at the annual conference in October in Monterey, California. The award shows that we have exceeded standards in areas such as budget and strategic planning, customer satisfaction and disaster preparedness.
