Coronado restaurants have been hit again with the requirement to shut down indoor dining due to the surging number of Coronavirus cases in San Diego county. As a community we know what to do, we will rally and show our support by dining and shopping local, and cheer on the brave teams who continue to show up and serve us daily. And we will do all this wearing a mask!

It is utterly heartbreaking to witness arguments taking place over this most basic request – to see staff subjected to unnecessary stress at an already trying time. So many of them are young and unused to handling combative customers. The good news is that the majority of Coronadans and Coronado-loving visitors are kind and respectful and for every individual who gets their kicks kicking off, we can place an order or make a purchase with a sincere thank you. We want our businesses to know that we are aware of what they are going through and we’ll see them through this latest round of trials.

To this end, the Coronado Chamber of Commerce is extending the closing date for our Word Search puzzle featuring the names of 20 Orange Avenue stores. To be entered for the prize drawing, send your completed Word Search with a receipt from ANY THREE of our local stores to the above address.

We are also launching a third round of Restaurant Bingo and every single restaurant on the island is eligible, the bingo card pictured is just for inspiration. The question mark gives you free reign! Simple rules this time – submit five restaurant or café receipts to be eligible for a super surprise prize! Either pop the receipts in an envelope with your contact details and mail to Coronado Chamber at 1125 Tenth St or email your entry to belinda@coronadochamber.com.

The closing date for both competitions is August 7th 2020.

Have fun and here’s to looking back on Summer 2020 with a sense of pride, knowing we did everything we could to keep our beloved Coronado businesses going!
