The City-owned Boathouse Restaurant property is a key feature of the Glorietta Bay Marina landscape. The 132-year-old Boathouse was constructed in 1887 on pilings over Glorietta Bay across from the Hotel del Coronado and mirrors many of its architectural features.

The 6,637-square-foot building serves a dual role of generating revenue as a commercially viable restaurant and as a valued historic community asset.

The City Council in February agreed to create the Boathouse Stewardship Masterplan to recommend short- and long-term repairs and improvements to the property. The Council adopted the plan on Tuesday, June 4, to ensure the Boathouse is not only appropriately preserved, but also remains functional and economically viable for the community to enjoy.
