The Coronado Tourism Improvement District board met on Thursday, Aug. 6 where BBMAC Aquatics Director, Carrie Fisher-Fernan, along with the Glorietta Bay Inn Sales and Marketing Manager, Kelsey Roberts, came together to present a new marketing concept to the CTID. Every year the BBMAC brings in teams from across the world to train in the Island Paradise of Coronado. This brings in un-measureable income to the community in regards to food and souvenirs, and hundreds of thousands to fill the hotels that might otherwise be empty in the winter months. We book to capacity from mid-December through mid-January. But everything comes to a halt, what if we could market to Elite training teams to come and fill our vacancies from late January to the end of February?

Together with the Glorietta Bay Inn and the help of Raindrop Marketing, we put just that package proposal together for the CTID to review. A grant to bring teams into Coronado in our slow months would boost tourism for all businesses and the Coronado Community as a whole. We will offer them discounted rooms at the Glorietta Bay Inn and discounted pool times and food certificates. The CTID unanimously agreed to the $10,000 grant to be used specifically for this time period. Leading into an Olympic year it is the perfect time for teams to take training trips to boost their athlete’s ability to adapt to traveling, training and competing. We are hoping to see great success with this spectacular offer. If the results go as we hope, then we will try to run another package for the fall months where the BBMAC is always underutilized in August, September and October.

The marketing content for this special is just being completed and will be released by the end of next week. We are very excited to see what teams will come to Coronado with this offer!

Reopening is scheduled for November 1, 2015. The cantilever gutters for both pools have been formed. They are now placing the slot drain for the instructional pool. The tile targets have been added to the 50 meter pool on both ends of the pool.
