The San Diego County Board of Supervisors agreed to approve and fund the collection of daily ocean water quality samples at Avenida Lunar. Testing began Saturday, Oct. 31.

The County Department of Environmental Health will sample every weekday, except Tuesday. The City of San Diego will continue to sample that day. Samples will be collected daily except during a general rain advisory or where sampling becomes a health and safety risk.

The City may see an increase in advisories due to the expanded testing but observational closures will be no longer be made due to current test results that will confirm or deny actual contamination. The public can continue to check SDbeachinfo.com for water quality status updates to these specific sites. Coronado continues to sample North Beach weekly as part of its Swimmable Water Program and posts the sampling results. In addition, the City has a North Beach water quality status icon on the County webpage.
