Normally heads-up is a message that alerts or prepares. So here is your heads-up, this summer a new exhibition slated for the C3 Gallery will open on May 25, 2023, featuring portraits by Coronado local artists.

The City of Coronado Cultural Arts Commission is seeking visual artists to exhibit artworks to be displayed in the 2023 Summer Exhibition “Heads Up!” in the C3 Gallery. Emerging and professional local artists are invited to apply.

The Coronado Community Center Art Gallery is an exhibition opportunity owned by the City of Coronado and operated by the Cultural Arts Commission as a service to local artists. The City of Coronado Cultural Arts Commission is seeking Coronado artists to submit for consideration two-dimensional (2-D) and three-dimensional (3-D) artwork for display in the north lobby space of the Community Center located at 1845 Strand Way in Coronado

Amateur and professional artists aged 18 years and above who live or work in Coronado, and members of the Coronado Art Association in good standing are welcome to apply.

Applications to exhibit artwork in the C3 Gallery will be accepted via email through Monday, May 1, 2023 at 5 p.m. (Pacific time). All complete applications received by the deadline will be juried by the Visual Art Selection Committee of arts commissioners, visual art professionals, and/or artists. Selection criteria may include but may not be limited to: quality/merit of work, diversity, medium of work. Final acceptance for inclusion in the exhibition will be subject to review and approval of the actual completed submitted artwork. All artwork accepted must be suitable for audiences which include young children who regularly visit the Community Center.

Applicants selected to exhibit will be notified no later than May 8, 2023, and should be available to deliver juried artwork for installation Friday, May 12, 2023

Complete applications must be emailed to kpurvis@coronado.ca.us or delivered to Coronado City Hall, 1825 Strand Way, Coronado, CA 92118 by Monday, May 1, 2023, at 5 p.m. (Pacific time). Late and/or incomplete applications will not be considered.
