If you are an adult age 60 and over and need assistance with completing the 2020 Census, the local office of the U.S. Census Bureau staff is available to assist you by phone Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. by calling 858-285-7539. The office offers assistance in several languages. Census 2020 is a critical government function that determines federal political representation as well as funding for vital services for the next 10 years including:

Emergency services

Housing for seniors

Food assistance programs for seniors

Highways/infrastructure

Employment and

Health care

Great Plates Delivered has been extended to Aug. 9. The program has been helping older adults during the COVID-19 pandemic by delivering meals to their homes. Following federal guidelines, the program is intended for seniors who are not currently receiving or eligible for any other federal nutrition benefits, such as Cal Fresh or the Senior Nutrition Program. Socialize from a safe distance with Virtual ALZ Companion visits. Alzheimer’s San Diego has a new virtual companion program for individuals living with dementia. Both care partners and people living with dementia in San Diego County can benefit from a virtual visit. Individuals will be carefully matched with a volunteer and will be connected using free video software like FaceTime or Zoom. If you are interested in getting matched with a virtual ALZ Companion, please call 858-492-4400.
