We know that navigating vaccinations this season may be challenging. At Sharp, we’re committed to providing you with convenient options to receive the vaccinations you need.

Full FDA approval of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine

The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine was fully approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Aug. 23 for people age 16 and older, lifting the previous emergency use authorization (EUA). The previous emergency use authorization remains in effect for those ages 12 to 15. Full approval of the Moderna vaccine should come within several weeks. Johnson & Johnson will apply for full authorization soon.

For those who were hesitant to take a vaccine not fully approved by the FDA, we hope you will now feel comfortable receiving the first dose this week, followed by a second dose 3 weeks later.

COVID-19 vaccine doses for people who are immunocompromised

Additional COVID-19 vaccine doses are now available for people with moderately to severely compromised immune systems. The CDC and California Department of Public Health advise those who received either Moderna or Pfizer vaccine and have moderately to severely compromised immune systems to receive an additional vaccine dose. Learn who is eligible for an additional dose.

If eligible, you may receive an additional dose at any location offering vaccines; you do not need to return to the place where you received your first two doses. Choose a location that is convenient for you.

The Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine is not approved for additional doses at this time.

COVID-19 booster shots

Sharp is monitoring discussions among federal health agencies regarding the need for booster shots. Sharp will be ready to provider booster shots when we receive guidance from federal and state health agencies regarding the approved timing and processes. View updates.
