The Coronado Cultural Arts Commission Welcomes

Prior to the establishment of the Coronado Cultural Arts Commission (CAC), we held an Arts Forum in June of 2011 inviting arts organizations, artists, writers, and arts supporters to join us in a conversation about the arts in Coronado and what we would like to see as part of our future. One of the top mentioned themes was sharing the Wizard of Oz and author L. Frank Baum’s unique connection to Coronado.

Three years later the ideas planted that day are emerging in glorious rainbow colors as the Emerald City welcomes the Wizard of Oz and Oz-mania back to our enchanted island. We invite you to join us on the Yellow Brick Road as Oz once again comes to life through the magic of live theatre, dance, film, concerts and musical cabaret, exquisite exhibitions, lectures, the day-long CELEBRATE OZ! Community Festival, and walking tours.

For the first time a wide variety of Coronado arts organizations, partnering with the CAC, have come together and all focused on a common theme during a specific time frame. Over the course of this past year, this collaborative energy has grown to produce a synergy now settling over our community like fairy dust as we show the world that truly Coronado is part sun…part fun…part fairy tale.

Partnering with Emmy nominated Producer David Maxine for the 50th Annual Celebration of Winkie Con happening in San Diego was a match made in heaven and brings together both sides of the bridge in a series of complimentary, sequential events continuing through August 10th - see OzConInternational.com

Whether you fell in love with The Wizard of Oz because of the books or the movie, the characters or the music, whether you first experienced Oz-mania as a small child or became a fan later in life through one of the Broadway shows like Wicked or The Wiz, or one of the more recent movies like Oz the Great & Powerful or last spring’s animated Return to Oz  - Come August 1st, Coronado has planned something for everyone.  So come find out why Baum called Coronado the “queen of fairy-land” and once told a journalist that “Those who do not find Coronado a paradise . . . would render heaven unpleasant.”

An event of the Coronado is planned for the implementation for all individuals. The issues of the Coronado have been ensured with paper writing service for the use of the things and all official things for the state.
